Life Highlights: Last Day in LA (Manar Edition)

Og Instagram photo collage I posted the day Snakes McCoy left to live with me in California two years ago
Of all the people I am leaving in LA, by far Snakey Snake (aka Mayo aka Manar) is the one I'm going to miss the most.

We helped her officially move and start to put together her new room in Eagle Rock this morning (still 100°F+ heat - never again will I ever move during the summer) before saying goodbye.

It's super weird to think that she's no longer my roommate. She's been a part of our family for the past six years. We lived together in Oregon for two years during high school, then two years off (when I went to college and lived in a dorm room), and then she moved down to LA and we lived together again for two more years until this summer after we graduated.

She's been a staple in my life and my burgeoning "Real Adult" status. Anyone who knows me knows that I talk about, worry about, and am very proud of my sister, and to leave her was the hardest part of deciding to move (even though with our separate crazy schedules and lives we most likely saw each other once every month rather than every day). Even on the days she wasn't home when I was (of which there were many) it was comforting to know she could be. Coming back to the flat from work and seeing her curled up on her bed watching Netflix or in the morning singing loudly (and a little off key) to her favourite tunes from her phone while getting ready in the morning - these things to me signalled that I was home.

She's my og roomie, my extra wardrobe, my weird little snakey sister and I'm so very proud of who she's become and who she's becoming. It's been a real blessing and privilege to get to grow up with "el snake-o". I'm going to miss her very much. My only consolation? That I can still stalk and annoy her on social media, as well as share every moment of my current and future obsessions with her. Oh, and that she knows I love her very much.
